Classical Christian Education
As a Classical Christian School, WCA is dedicated to teaching and training every student for the glory of God and with excellence. Our instructional approach emphasizes the classical ideals of truth, virtue, and beauty, all through a distinctly Christian worldview. WCA’s curriculum is classically inspired and teaches for mastery through the foundation of knowledge and facts (grammar stage) in elementary classes; the emphasis on reason, relationships, and principles (logic stage) in middle school classes; and finally the dedication to effective and persuasive writing and speaking (rhetoric stage) in 8th grade. This last stage is typically taught in high school. In all areas, the focus is on teaching and modeling through a biblical worldview. With a classically inspired curriculum, students engage in subjects such as logic, rhetoric, science, mathematics, Bible, history, grammar, and classical literature. Alongside academics, the arts, and athletics, we develop both heart and mind for God’s purpose.
A Christian worldview means that all truth is God’s truth and that Christ is central to every subject and area of life. Students are taught to see the world through the lens of Scripture, understanding their identity, purpose, and calling in light of God’s redemptive plan. It has always been the biblical goal of education for a child to be trained in the knowledge, wisdom, and ways of the Lord, being transformed in mind, body, and soul through faith in Jesus Christ. If we miss that, we miss the true purpose of education, which becomes void of lasting meaning. As Scripture asks, “For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and lose his soul?” (Mark 8:36). The answer is nothing. Education must be Christ-centered because Christ is the One “in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3). Knowing Him is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge, and from that foundation, students grow through God’s Word and a Christ-centered education.
