Music

Weston Christian Academy’s music program offers a holistic approach with skilled, incremental instruction from preschool through middle school. In Preschool, students learn simple songs, hymns of praise, rhythmic movement, and play rhythm instruments. Music lessons continue in Kindergarten through 3rd grade as students master fundamental musical concepts, including pitch, rhythm, meter, major and minor scales, key signatures, and intervals. Students learn to play the recorder in 2nd and 3rd grades, building a foundation for future instruction.

Starting in 4th grade, all students receive formal instruction on a musical instrument, which continues through 5th grade. During these years, students participate in either the Concert Band or the Orchestra. Participation in band or orchestra is required for 6th grade and encouraged in 7th and 8th grade. Middle school students may also participate in multimedia fine arts support, visual arts, or drama.

During chapels and assemblies, students at Weston Christian Academy use music as a heartfelt expression of worship to our Lord and Savior. Through the singing of hymns and worship songs, they lift their voices in praise, cultivating a spirit of reverence and joy. Worship through music is an integral part of our school culture, nurturing spiritual growth and deepening each student’s relationship with Christ.
